This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors

Introduction

Woodhill Hall is a 300 year old detached Georgian country manor, set on a private estate of 100 acres of woodland, meadow and river and situated near the village of Otterburn in the heart of Northumberland. Guests can unwind in our elegant and unobtrusive surroundings with family and friends, free from distractions of other parties and modern day life. Upon entering Woodhill Hall, most guests are drawn through the hallway into our imposing Orangery with views extending beyond the village of Otterburn and the compelling panorama of the Northumberland countryside. With the exclusive use of the large entrance hallway, dining room, Orangery, tepee, BBQ hut and bar, our guests have room to meander during their two day stay and enjoy the feeling of being home from home with our fully equipped kitchen. Woodhill has 16 bedrooms and sleeps up to 36 guests. 10 of these are ensuite rooms, 4 of which are on the ground floor and step free (see access statement). We look forward to welcoming you.   • The nearest railway station is Newcastle central, which is 33 miles away. Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, see contact details for details
  • It is best to pre book taxis when coming to and from Woodhill, especially if leaving later at night

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

  • Upon arrival you will be shown to your room and given the key
  • There will be staff on hand to help with any bags etc
  • Car parking is available for all guests at Woodhill. The back car park is tarmacked and flat, the other two are level and gravel. All three car parks are close to the house and are well lit

Entrance to Property

  • The front door is 3ft / 90cm wide. There is one small step to the front door. An alternative entrance which is step free is available to the side of the house via a paved path
  • The entrance is well lit with floodlights outside and ceiling lights in the entrance
  • The floor covering inside is stone tiles

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

  • The hall, stairs and passage ways are all lit with a variety of ceiling lights
  • The floor coverings on the stairs and upstairs hallway are carpet
  • Downstairs is stone tiles and laminate flooring
  • The back stairs are quite steep with Woodhill being an old house, but the main stairs are an alternative less steep way to access the upstairs

Sitting Room/Lounge

  • The drawing room is on the ground floor and has level entry from the entrance hall
  • The door to the room is 2ft 10 in / 88cm wide
  • The room has three large sofas with feather cushions. There are two low coffee tables. The furniture in this room can be moved
  • The room has table lamps and a ceiling light, which can be controlled by a dimmer switch.
  • The flooring is laminate with a large floor rug

Dining Room

  • The dining room is on the ground floor and has level entry from the hallway
  • The door openings are 2ft 9in / 84cm
  • There is space around the tables for a wheelchair. All furniture is movable
  • The chairs are padded and upright with no arms. The height under the tables is 2ft 1in / 64cm
  • Lighting is ceiling and wall lights and ceiling spot lights
  • The floor surface is laminate
  • In the orangery there are 2 steps from the hallway or there is access via a ramp from the outside of the orangery
  • The furniture is banqueting chairs with no arms with free space around the tables

Kitchen

  • The kitchen is on the ground floor with step free access from the hallway and dining room
  • The door opening is 2ft 9in / 84cm wide
  • The oven door drops down and is 3ft / 90cm from the floor. There is a lower oven which is 2ft / 60cm from the floor.
  • The hob, sink and work benches are 3ft / 90cm from the floor
  • The lowest drawer in the fridge / freezer is 8in / 20cm from the floor and the highest is 5ft / 150cm from the floor
  • The highest crockery / glass cupboards are 5ft / 150cm from the floor and the lowest are 1ft 6in / 46cm from the floor
  • The sink tap is a single tap with two levers for hot / cold
  • Lighting is ceiling spot lights
  • The floor covering is laminate

Tepee

  • The tepee is accessed via the garden path which is paved and step free
  • The path is lit by floodlights
  • The entrance to the tepee is step free
  • Lighting in the tepee is fairy lights
  • The floor is short pile carpet
  • There is a disabled toilet behind the tepee, access to which is covered and step free
  • Bedrooms and Sleeping Areas
  • There are 16 bedrooms altogether
  • 5 of these are on the ground floor, 2 doubles and 3 twins
  • The Rose room is a twin on the ground floor with an accessible ensuite
  • The door opening in the Rose room is 2ft 10in / 86cm and the door to the ensuite is 2ft 9in / 84cm
  • There are two single beds in the room with a 4ft 3in / 130cm space in between them. All furniture in the room can be moved.
  • The height of the beds is 2ft 4in / 70cm to the top of the matress with a clear space of 1ft 3in / 38cm under the bed
  • The room is lit by ceiling lights and table lamps
  • The floor is laminate. There is a good color contrast between the doorways, walls and floor

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets

  • All the 6 ground floor rooms have an ensuite
  • The ensuite in the Rose, Carriage House, Bessies, Garden & Hollys room all have a step free entrance and level entry to the shower
  • The Rose room ensuite has grab rails either side of the sink & toilet
  • The sink is 2ft 10in / 86cm tall
  • The toilet is 18 in / 46cm from the floor to the seat
  • The sink has a single lever tap
  • The lighting is ceiling spot lights
  • The floor is laminate and the walls & floor are the same color

Garden

  • The walled garden is accessed by a paved path, which is flat
  • The narrowest part of the path is 3ft 9in / 115cm
  • There is a patio which is paved and lawn areas
  • The seating is sofa style outdoor furniture

Additional Information

  • We welcome assistance dogs and have land available for them to be walked
  • The colour contrast of the walls and floors throughout the house are good
