The
Hall
The experience begins as you drive through
the Northumbrian countryside to reach The Hall. As you drive
up the impressive tree-lined avenue, you will glimpse the grandeur
of Woodhill Hall.
The Hall is from an age that knew space, history
and culture. In the past, there have been numerous renowned
visitors to Woodhill Hall including Abel Chapman (1851- 1929),
the famous Victorian explorer, writer, naturalist and founder
of the Sabi Game reserve and one of the master minds behind
the creation of the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Evidence of Abel Chapman’s occupation
remains to this day with the display of the Narwhals horn, given
by him to Miss Jane Gow whom he subsequently married on the
28th September 1885 at St Cuthbert’s Church, Elsdon.
