The
Bedrooms
All our bedrooms are
individually designed and full of period features. Most bedrooms
have beautiful fireplaces. All our rooms have comfortable beds
- from four poster beds to ornate carved beds; wooden window
shutters and lovely chandeliers.
The Colonel’s bedroom
is large and spacious with beautiful views towards the Simonside
hill. It is a light and sophisticated bedroom with lovely, classical
Zoffany wallpaper. It features a four poster bed (with sofa
bed, if required suitable for young children) as well as a TV and feature fireplace.
Abel’s room,
named after Abel Chapman, the famous Victorian naturalist, boasts
beautiful views towards the Simonside hill and the 18th century
bridge over the River Rede. The bedroom has a four poster bed,
TV and feature fireplace.
The following bedrooms are all located in the
oldest part of the house and date back to 1680.
Bridie’s bedroom
has a beautiful, ornate white wrought iron bed, feature fireplace,
and wooden window shutters.
Tom’s bedroom
is a lovely twin room with beautiful wallpaper in a light palette,
feature fireplace and TV. It also offers views of the walled
garden.
Athena’s bedroom
has a large super king-size wrought iron bed and overlooks the
courtyard. It also includes a TV.
Lucy’s bedroom,
named after Lucy Gow, the sister of Jane Gow who lived at Woodhill
Hall during the 1880s, is a sweet, five-sided room with a fireplace
and views of the courtyard.
The Rose bedroom,
so named as it overlooks the flowerbeds at the front of the
house. This bedroom has three, single, wrought iron beds, beautiful
heart shaped carvings on the wall; TV point and antique fireplace.
There are three, well designed bathrooms, two
of which contain beautiful cast iron baths – a roll top
bath and slipper bath. The third bathroom is a wet room finished
in beautiful, travertine stone.
Originally the old boiler house, The Garden
Wing, has been converted into three colonial style bedrooms,
all ensuite.
The Garden room
has two single sleigh beds and a large ensuite wet room in natural
stone, TV and double doors leading to the walled garden. This
bedroom has a special feature of enabling wheelchair access.
Holly’s bedroom
was once used as the dog kennel and is now a lovely bedroom
with twin beds, ensuite facilities and TV.
The Darcy room
is sheer luxury! It is a beautiful bedroom suite, the full size
of the Garden Wing with ensuite Jacuzzi bath. It includes a
wonderful, hand carved super king-size bed with additional antique
French campaign bed, original beamed ceiling, comfortable armchairs,
TV and arched window to the walled garden and surrounding countryside.
The Carriage House
is accessed through the old archway where carriages would have
passed through centuries ago. This is a large and stunning bedroom
as it is extravagantly decorated and features a large, ornate
double bed, ensuite wet room.
